Why You Shouldn’t Buy a Vacation Home in Tulum

Looking for a new vacation home? And love the idea of buying a vacation home in Tulum Mexico? And yes buying a vacation home in Tulum Mexico is certainly not for everyone.

And you shouldn’t buy a vacation home in Tulum if…

You see a vacation home as only a pure investment rather than a lifestyle.

Let’s be clear. Tulum is growing, and it’s not for everyone. But if you’re considering investing in the community, you have to do more than just dream about it—you have to explore the lifestyle that comes with it.

I’m not telling you not to buy a vacation home in Tulum, but I am telling you that doing so requires careful consideration.

If Tulum sounds good in theory but doesn’t feel like your cup of tea in practice, then maybe it isn’t the place for you.

You should go see what it’s really like before committing yourself to become a part of this unique community

You don’t like to invest in your own lifestyle and wellbeing.

The next time you’re dreaming of a tropical vacation, try something different: look at the location from an economic perspective.

A quick review of the costs associated with living in Tulum, Mexico shows that there are plenty of other factors to consider beyond sunny beaches and palm trees.

You don’t like the ocean.

Tulum is located on the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, a state in southern Mexico. It’s known for having a picturesque beach that’s often packed with tourists and locals alike. The water here is warm and clear, and snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, kite surfing, sailing, and other water activities are common.

As you can see, Tulum is surrounded by water—and anyone who doesn’t like the ocean or sea might not want to buy a vacation home there.

You don’t like making new friends.

If you’re looking for a place to meet new people and start some awesome, long-lasting friendships, look no further than Tulum.

Not only is Tulum one of the most beautiful locations on Earth—a magical spot of ethereal beauty of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula—but Tulum is also an exceptional place to get together with friends from all over the world.

With beaches especially great for getting out in nature and cenotes with water so pristine it looks like it could have come straight from a postcard. Tulum’s natural beauty alone makes it one of the best vacation spots on Earth.

But what about meeting new people? There are plenty more fun options for making friends in Tulum than any app or website out there.

Whether you’re in town during one of its many festivals or just go out of your way to visit during high season (which runs roughly from October through May), there are a lot of fun ways to meet new people while staying or living in Tulum.

You don’t believe a vacation home can be enjoyable and still be an investment

Whether you’re looking to buy a full-time home or an investment property, there are plenty of good reasons to own a vacation home in Tulum.

First off, unlike what many people think, owning a vacation home doesn’t have to be all fun and no work.

In fact, if you own the right kind of vacation home at the right location—one that’s high demand and low maintenance—you can earn back your costs by renting out your property while you’re away.

This rental income can help offset the amount you spend on your mortgage and other upkeep over time.

There are also important tax benefits to consider: as long as you rent it out more than 14 days per year and follow IRS guidelines, you’ll be able to deduct certain expenses related to the upkeep of your second home.

Another benefit is the appreciation of your vacation property over time. If Tulum continues its growth trajectory, buying a condo today could mean big gains in equity down the road—but only if it’s done thoughtfully.

For example, some developments will claim beachfront access when their buildings are actually situated several hundred yards away from the ocean; this can make for inaccurate pricing when it comes time for sale (or re-sale).

The location and layout of a prospective property play big roles in how much rental income it can bring in; similarly, hiring someone who knows how to market properties online through short-term rentals (like Airbnb) will give you an advantage on maximizing revenue throughout peak seasons.

The location isn’t the only thing that matters: choosing a good realtor and/or property manager is also essential for getting the most return on your investment.

If you think you’ll regret spending more fun time in the tropical paradise that is Tulum, Mexico

If you have a problem saying no to margaritas and lazy days on the beach, this might not be the place for you.

According to an article in the New York Times, Tulum is one of the world’s fastest-growing vacation destinations, with 4 million people flocking to its beaches per year.

In addition to its picturesque location along the coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, Tulum has been popularized as a tropical escape for those who enjoy the natural beauty and relaxed living.

If you don’t love good food and gorgeous weather and want to be around friendly people in paradise.

You shouldn’t buy a vacation home in Tulum if you don’t love good food and gorgeous weather, and want to be around friendly people in paradise.

Tulum is a gorgeous, tranquil town on the Yucatan Peninsula, where you’ll find some of the best beaches and most delicious food in all of Mexico.

It’s also one of the friendliest places I’ve ever been. After days spent lounging on the soft white sand or diving under tropical waters teeming with colorful fish, you can enjoy a fresh ceviche or taco al pastor at one of the countless palm-thatched huts on Tulum’s best beach before heading into town for live music and dancing at one of its many restaurants.

If that doesn’t get your heart rate up, there are also plenty of activities like horseback riding through Mayan ruins, and hiking through jungle trails that lead to cenotes (natural sinkholes with water so clear it dazzles), or rafting down underground rivers to explore more caves.
