Cancun, Riviera Maya—Spring break is right around the corner, and vacation-rental owners in Cancun and Riviera Maya are looking forward to a bustling season.
The state’s governor, Carlos Joaquin, reported that they’re expecting more than 3 million visitors between March and April 2022.
In total, the state will host 15 million visitors this year, with the bulk of them coming during this holiday season.
In addition to tourism from within Mexico, the area is also seeing an uptick in international visitors now that Belize has reopened its land border.
According to Joaquin’s report, about 4,000 people cross into Mexico each week through the Belize border. Most of those people book a stay in Chetumal before heading farther inland or flying out of Mexico.
This is good news for vacation-rental owners in Cancun and Riviera Maya who have been able to book their properties at a higher rate during these times.
