Who requires Permanent / Temporary Residency service?
Temporary Resident Visa is for people who wish to live in Mexico for over 180 days but not longer than four years. The Temporary Resident visa is for 1 year, and is renewed for 1 to 3 years. After four years maximum, you must apply for a Permanent Residence Visa if you wish to stay in Mexico.
What is the difference between permanent resident and temporary resident?
A residence permit can either be temporary or permanent and sometimes, long term. Temporary: This is when the permit lasts for a certain amount of time. Permanent: This is when the permit is for an indefinite amount of time.
How long can I live in Mexico without a visa?
If you’re traveling to Mexico from the United States as a tourist, you do not need a visa to enter the country. Upon arrival, they will allow you 180 days, or six months, with what’s called a “visitor’s permit” or FMM.
Can I leave Mexico during my visa process?
You must remain in Mexico during the processing of your visa. However, once you are accepted you can leave anytime you wish.
How long does it take to get a temporary residency in Mexico?
The visa is usually issued within 10 working days however due to COVID-19 this can take a little longer. During the process, you will have your photograph taken and your fingerprints scanned.
